NESS NÖST is an Eastern Canadian folk/soul singer and songwriter.  Ness’ sound reflects some of her influences such as Sharon Van Etten, Stevie Nicks, Amy Winehouse, Joni Mitchell, and Bonnie Raitt. Ness' Passionate vocals and poetic storytelling bring honest lyrics to the stage, and her records are filled with rich harmonies, and raw emotion. Her songs  have themes of darkness, the human condition, love & loss, and always a bit of humour. Ness has been playing on stages across Canada  and the US for years. Her most recent shows in her home of Vancouver have been at Guilt & Company, 2nd Floor, The Libra Room,  and The Princeton. Ness has been a vocalist in Vancouver's Lo Ruby  and Bonfire Ballerina, as well as indie folk group from Golden, Easy Ruckus.  Ness’ vocals can be heard on the albums of other  artist’s  such as Toronto’s surf rock group Father Christmas, and Ottawa’s electronic producer Cabaal.

Ness' jazzy warm tones come from her roots as lead singer in Montreal jazz group The Swoon Quartet , in 2015, with whom she toured the US and Canada. Her love of jazz has influenced her musical stylings as a solo artist, and landed her  a two page spread in the Golden Star newspaper in 2017, where Ness got to describe her songwriting journey.  Ness  was recently selected as a feature artist in Columbia University's (New York) music showcase "Songcraft", which features the writing processes of emerging artists all over North America. Ness was a musician in residency in the BMIR program at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2017, where she produced and released her single Meridian in the Telus Studios. Ness just released her single Welcome To The Show  in April, on all streaming platforms, along with a music video, which was featured in the Permanent Rain Press, and on Eric Alpert's "Best of Indie" Spotify playlist. The song is a layered, harmonic folk song about being disconnected. You can find Ness regularly playing venues in Vancouver like Guilt and Company in Gastown, and Luppolo Brewing's The Wednesday Sessions.
