"SLOW QUITTER" is the fourth song on Ness Nöst's highly anticipated EP "Working Hours," set to release in full in February 2024. With a fun grit and a smooth indie rock vibe, Slow Quitter explores a woman working in nightlife, getting caught up in substance abuse and a lifestyle that becomes too fast paced for her own good. She's screwing up, and if she keeps it up her dreams will slip away. This continues the narrative of the EP which Ness Nost (Vanessa Nostbakken) wrote, performed, and produced herself independently.
Working Hours serves up a fresh, semi-autobiographical collection of five hot tracks where "we are immediately transported into the world of a woman who is constantly fighting for her dreams."(ParaPOP.Net) The first three tracks have already garnered buzz especially in Canada and the UK on radio, in print, interview, and online magazines. Track 1 MAID 4 U "delves into the challenges women in the service industry face, battling misogyny, self-sabotage and pursuit of dreams all wrapped up in an acoustic-pop sound,"(Get In Her Ears UK ) "From the prominent sentimental acoustic guitar to the wistful harmonies, the production plucks your heart strings in a way that has you feeling empathetic as the last few seconds of the song fades away."(UNSIGNED BC)
Nost's second track The Regular took the world by storm "Unveiling the Harsh Realities with Poetic Precision" (Wax Vynil UK) "a poignant ballad that transcends musical boundaries to deliver a fearless commentary on the struggles faced by women in the service industry. The song navigates the challenging terrain of societal expectations, encapsulating themes that resonate deeply with the human experience" (Wax Vynil UK) This track landed on Exclaim magazines Eh! List, and made it to SOHO radio in London UK, CITR (Narduar's station,) and Unsigned BC Radio.
Nost's third track Overtime brought alt rock and some dark tones to the EP "NESS NÖST’s unique sonic lens and captivating songwriting allure making for a release that will stick with you for long after your listen. "(CLOUT Magazine UK)
Ness Nost is based in Vancouver and splits her time between the west coast and Toronto. Nost has been touring this EP solo in 2023 in BC, Alberta and Ontario, and plans to tour the whole country in 2024 with her band, followed by a UK tour in 2024/2025.
LYRICS
She woke up late again
Not sure where she's been
Why why why
She looks right to her left
Sees cigarettes and gin
Why why why
Well I think her bodie's telling her
Something she needs to know
Like how you gonna keep
On playing at this kinda showBaby please
Please
Please
Slow down for me
She's late for work again
Down at the club
Why why why
She calls in sick but shes
Just busy screwin up
Why why why
Well I think her bodie's telling her
Something she needs to know
Like girl you can't keep doi'n this
It's getti'n hard to grow
Baby please
Please
Please
Slow down for me
She's got a good heart
And a good soul
But her past has taken it's toll
She feels like she's trying to move
Mountains
While she's stuck down in a hole
Stuck down in a hole
Well honey baby darlin wont you
Please
Darlin
Slow down for me
